1a. Audio Survey Results

Very interesting. We had over 1200 responses to the survey ascertaining interest in receiving all or parts of the newsletter in audio.
Here are the results to the right.

Take The 'U' Out Of It Video Article
Though the majority said no, I thought I would do one article this month as a video. For your extra enjoyment, I've included some bloopers in the end.

Let me know what you think about it. I'm quite curious.
Watch the video
Take the "U" out of it.

To download the video to your computer instead of watching it streaming, right click your mouse and save where you want it. The video will open in Windows Media Player and is 6 megs.

2. Reply Signatures

Do you use Outlook and repetitively type the same old "best regards" or "thank you very much" again and again and again and again?
Don't. Instead set up a reply signature to do it automatically. In addition to your salutation, you might want your name and phone number. It's simple.

In Outlook it's Tools>options>mail format>signatures>signatures for replies and forwards!

3. Monitoring Children's Late Night Activity

Many a parent would be shocked to learn of the late night activity of their children (of all ages). Texting at 2am on their mobiles; on the internet for hours; Electronic games played with the sound off. To be sure about the time they spend on these devices, consider:

  • Placing computers in family areas, rather than in their bedrooms.
  • Collect all phones, hand held games and laptops at night and return in the morning.
  • Take the game controllers out of their room at bedtime.

4. Google Maps

If you haven't discovered Google Maps yet, you're in for a treat! Go to http://maps.google.com/maps and type in the city you live in (or anywhere of course). The feature you'll love best I bet is the ability to superimpose street maps over real satellite pictures. Enjoy. You'll love this.

"For eighteen months I've been receiving the Business Tip Newsletter. Each one helps me fine-tune my computer skills and gets me thinking 'how can I do this smarter?'. They're short, punchy and useful - one of the few publications I read in full before filing. Keep up the great work, Debbie!"
